One often heard saying regarding the financial markets is "Sell in May, and go away", which recommends that long trades (or buy and hold investments) are exited (or sold) in May of each year. The second half of the saying is sometimes "Stay away for September, but come back in November", which recommends that no further trades (or investments) are made until November.
